One of the great red grapes of Italy, with more scope for long term ageing than almost any other. Tannic, acidic and deep in colour, the resultant wines can be massively structured, with extraordinary scenes of violets and tar, with a powerful palate to match. Despite the fact that it is only really found in Piedmont (and very rarely the Americas) its importance cannot be overstated. Any lover of Barolo and Barbaresco (which are both 100% Barolo) will testify to the fact that Nebbiolo is perhaps the greatest of all Italian varieties.

Medium red in colour with brick tones. On the nose, this wine is all spices and cloves. On the palate, it is lean with a great structure. It has flavours of bitter cherries and earthy liquorice. The finish is good with a lingering persistence in the mouth.

Intense and truffley on the nose, it is rose-scented with a touch of coffee. On the palate, it shows great power and intensity, with the characteristic tannins of Serralunga Barolo balanced by the rich fruit produced by this wonderful vineyard.

The 2005 Barolo is dark garnet in colour, with brilliant ruby lights. On the nose it is fragrant, with perfumes of red fruits, flowers and spice, particularly violets, maraschino cherries and nutmeg. Lovely rounded tannins on the palate give structure to the fruit which is more accessible than the previous vintage. A perfect balance and a long, perfumed finish.
