The largest independently owned Madeira company, founded in 1850. Regularly sweeping the board at the International Wine Challenge ( Madeira of the year, Fortified Trophy, Gold Medals etc.) and usually dominating the lists of fortified wines of the year in Decanter magazine (3 ****** awards in 1999 whilst no one else won even one!). Their Madeiras are traditionally made yet don't command the kind of prices their contemporaries often charge.
