We think this must rate as one the very best wineries outside France. Everything that bears the Ridge label is of the highest quality, from a classically rich Chardonnay to perhaps the greatest New World red of them all, the monumental Monte Bello. With propertys in various carefully chosen areas in California, Ridge is now one of the most serious players in California today with rave write ups by everyone of any importance. Fruit selection is of the highest quality and the individual character of every wine produced truly magnificent. Penfold's Grange may get more column inches but for many there isn't anything that better than Monte Bello.
