Deep, purple core with a rich, berry fruit nose with lots of ripe red plum and whiffs of white pepper. Some floral notes in the background, including violets, lavender and spring blossoms. Mourvedre is perfect for Waterkloof, with its head in the sun and feet in the sea. So, not one to follow fashion, Paul Boutinot has made it the most planted red grape on this biodynamic farm. Despite this confidence, nobody could have anticipated such spectacular results when upon the release of the first vintage from 2015, the wine garnered a rave review and score of 94 points by Tim Atkin MW.

Named after a former owner of Rustenberg, John Xavier Merriman, who bought the farm in 1892 in sympathy with farmers suffering from the phylloxera crisis.

Ou Hoofgebou Cabernet Sauvignon is an old school Stellenbosch Cabernet. Full bodied and dark fleshy berry fruit in a smooth sheen of oak.

Estate Reserve Red Blend (formerly Grand Vin de Glenelly) is the signature red wine of the estate, a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

The red clay and rich soils bring softer and plush elegant fruit to the aromatics. They also create tannins which are richer softer and sweeter to the other reds from the Waterford Estate. This blend consists of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Malbec.

Kaapzicht's Pinotage comes from 20-year-old bush vines planted in weathered granite soil. The vineyards are all dry land, unirrigated.

Baking spices, dark chocolate and black, vibrant fruits hint at the power to follow. It is characterized by an upfront perfume, intermingled with concentrated cassis, black cherries and some herbaceousness.

Lady May is Glenelly’s Flagship Estate wine. Elegant and complex, the wine develops flavours of cassis, blackcurrant, dark cherry, touch of graphite and delicate spicy plum. Fresh and vibrant, the evolution of the wine introduces flavours specific to Glenelly’s terroir. Deeply coloured and perfectly balanced, the wine displays an exquisite structure with velvety tannins and a very good ageing capability. Can age during 12 to 18 years.
