Rich, dense and with real elegance. Sweet blackcurrant leaf on the nose, round and solid with
tight tannins and a very long finish.

Blended from 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc grapes, this wine is then aged in French oak barrels, a third of which are new each year. Deep colored wine with fine tannins from the merlot and more powerful tannins from the aromatic cabernet. Some of this wine stayed in the vats for four weeks.  The first tastings of this vintage are very promising

All Château de la Grille’s wines are aged in bottle at the property and only released when they are ready to drink and when all the new oak flavours have mellowed sufficiently. This gives the drinker the unique opportunity to buy wines that are ready to drink on release.

Now regarded as one of the best modern Margaux performers and listed as one of the best six 2000 Margaux releases. Its marvellous fragrance is backed up by penetrating fruit, a hint of cinammon and beautifully integrated tannins.

Grown on gravelly soil and bottled in 80% new oak for 18 months, this wine is spicy, silky and displays minerality.

A wine made from grapes of the mentioned varieties which are later mixed to make a blend that combines the Cabernet Franc (concentrated and generous)and Tempranillo (elegant and fresh) and the bouquet provided by the four months oak ageing. Post bottled to continue the process of ageing in bottle.

The 2006 Abadal Seleccio is composed of 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Syrah aged for 14 months in French oak. A saturated purple color, it reveals an already complex nose of sandalwood, scorched earth, espresso, incense, spice box, black cherry, and black currant. In the mouth this buxom effort is dense, succulent, and long. It merits 4-5 years of additional cellaring and will present a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2026.

The deep crimson-coloured 2006 Quinta Sardonia gives up an aromatic array of cedar, Asian spices, incense, and blackberry. Savoury and supple on the palate, it has enough underlying structure to evolve for 2-3 years and should be at its best from 2012 to 2026.

Twenty-one months in barrel and six racks off the settled lees have brought integration and clarity. Elegant structure and the rich, briary fruit typical of our Santa Cruz Mountains estate combine to give the wine immediate appeal. An excellent vintage, it will continue to develop over the next twelve to fourteen years.
