The most southerly of all Cape wineries, Hamilton Russell make a candidate for the country's greatest Pinot Noir. Their Chardonnay is pretty awesome too. Both have a healthy Burgundian streak, a tribute to founder Tim Hamilton-Russell's efforts to find the perfect spot for cool climate wine growing. Tim handed over the running of the estate to his son Anthony in 1991, and it is Anthony who remains in charge.
