Browse by Grape - Riesling

A candidate for the most underrated variety in the wine world today. Usually associated with Germany and Alsace this much abused grape can make all manner of white wine, from sparkling to dessert. Its character can vary from fresh apple to petrol-like aromas and flavours. Its continued re-emergence is due to the wine public's realisation of its quality which had long been doubted mainly due to the influx of (often non-Riesling related) German wines of questionable quality. Now becoming a major variety in New Zealand and Australia.

Grosset POLISH HILL RIESLING 2016
Australia :: South Australia :: Clare Valley
Riesling
Sweetness: 1 - Very Dry
For laying down

The 2011 Grosset Polish Hill is comparable in quality terms with the two most recent vintages of the wine. Characteristically closed at present yet with hints of lime zest and savoury minerally aromas, it is intensely flavoured with pristine, freshly squeezed lime juice flavours before a long, distinctively lingering, dry finish. The 2011 Polish Hill has that characteristic lean, steely, tight structure, immense power, weight and persistence which suggests that it is built for the long haul.Cellar with confidence, few white wines age as well as this.
