Home of what are considered to be the world's greatest white wines, all of which are made from Chardonnay. Some Aligote is grown but the resultant wine is poor incomparison with the best whites of the area. High quality reds are also made, from Pinot Noir; these wines are a little softer in general than those of the Côte de Nuits, barring Pommard, which tens to be the fullest of all Burgundian reds. The most famous vineyards are Corton-Charlemagne, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Aloxe-Corton.

The nose has wonderful grapefruit zest bitterness, with some gentle floral influenced honey. The palate in bright and clean acidity, and a voluptuous depth of stone fruit on the mid-palate. with subtle smokiness. It is a highly complex village wine that should evolve well for many years.
