Home of what are considered to be the world's greatest white wines, all of which are made from Chardonnay. Some Aligote is grown but the resultant wine is poor incomparison with the best whites of the area. High quality reds are also made, from Pinot Noir; these wines are a little softer in general than those of the Côte de Nuits, barring Pommard, which tens to be the fullest of all Burgundian reds. The most famous vineyards are Corton-Charlemagne, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Aloxe-Corton.

Red Wine
Pavelot Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Serpentieres 2017
France :: Burgundy :: Cote de Beaune
Pinot Noir
Body: b - Light to Medium
Ready to drink

Bright ruby colour with garnet hues, this wine opens with a refined nose of red cherry, wild strawberry and a subtle forest floor earthiness. Floral hints, perhaps violet, peek out alongside soft spice and delicate mineral undertones. On the palate it is elegant, medium-bodied: fresh acidity supports polished tannins with clean red fruit flavours complemented by subtle herbal or underbrush notes. The finish is of good length, showing purity of fruit and a graceful mineral thread. While very enjoyable now, it still has capacity to evolve for several more years.
