The Loire is sometimes thought of as being France's great summer wine producer. Certainly the best examples of Sancerre and Muscadet have the feel of sunshine about them, but there is a great deal more to the region than this. Cabernet Franc
Body: c - Medium
Ready to drink
Deep ruby with purple tinges, the nose opens with vivid red fruits; cherry, raspberry alongside notes of wild strawberry, underbrush and a subtle hint of graphite. There’s also a spicy peppery note typical of Cabernet Franc. On the palate it is medium bodied, juicy and fresh: the fruit is vibrant supported by fine grained tannins and balanced acidity. Earthy minerality shows through, giving depth with a touch of herbal notes and a whisper of oak. The finish is long, persistent with red berry tones and a salty, mineral edge lingering. It’s expressive now but has enough structure to improve with a few more years.
