Actually a collective name for three Italian grape varieties: it’s the local name for Croatina in Pavese, Colli Piacentini and Oltrepo. In Piedmonte its the name for Bonarda Piemontese and is usually blended with Barbera. There's masses of Bonarda in brazil and Argentina - its thought it’s the same grape as California's Charbono.
