Browse by Grape - Cabernet Franc
One of the lesser known Bordeaux red varieties although its more prominent in the Loire Valley. Despite this the legendary name of Château Cheval Blanc has occasionally had a 100% Cabernet Franc make up in its wine. Normally blended in Bordeaux but often bottled undiluted in the Loire, this rich red grape should produce a wine with a raspberry character with more apparent fruitiness than its more Famous Cabernet Sauvignon cousin. Now planted across the wine globe, with worthy mentions going to New Zealand and Australia.

Drink now, but will keep
The deep crimson-coloured 2006 Quinta Sardonia gives up an aromatic array of cedar, Asian spices, incense, and blackberry. Savoury and supple on the palate, it has enough underlying structure to evolve for 2-3 years and should be at its best from 2012 to 2026.
