One of the big five varieties of Bordeaux, now enjoying a purple patch in Argentina (where it has been developed into a quality variety) and Cahors (where it has been a staple planting for centuries). Also grown in other parts of regional France and Spain as well as South Africa (where it is sometimes called Cot)
