A robust variety that's very important in Spain (where it's called Monsatrell) but less so in Provence where it once dominated. Popularity is on the increase, however, in Southern France as well as California (where its sometimes called Mataro). It ages well and has a core of dark, stewy fruit and spice.

Great finesse on the nose, wich releases a mixture of red fruit, fig and soft spicy note. On the palate, the wine shows great elegance and a lovely weave of red fruit and very fine tannins.
