A fantastic history here, as the property is the third oldest producer in Rioja, and unbelievably its still owned by the sane family that established it. Founder Rafael Lopez de Heredia was Chilean in origin, and founded the bodega in 1877. Not a great deal of alteration from that day to this, as barrels are still made on the property and grapes are still handpicked.
Now in its fifth generation of ownership, with California-trained wineMaker Maria-Jose Lopez de Heredia in charge of operation.
