Madeiras

A fine old traditional style, produced from Tinta Negra, aged for 5 years in old French oak. Terrific as an aperitif served lightly chilled. Lots of interest here, sweet seville orange, some almonds finished with a zing of acidity. A bargain.

Aged for 5 years in old French Oak , this bold Malvasia displays ample orchard fruit with good acidity. Perfect with creme brulee or sticky toffee pudding.

Sourced from a single vineyard this is made with the rare Tinta Negra and makes an extraordinary wine. Almonds, barley sugar and seville orange all come into play on the lively palate. The sweetness is nicely counter balanced with mouth watering acidity. A real treat and really rather special.

One of the great grapes of Madeira. This 10YR Verdelho has a lovely tangy apricot core , intermingled with some thrilling acidity that is the hallmark of Barbeito Madeiras. Keeps for an age in the fridge once opened, makes for a very stimulating aperitif. Off dry, but real complexity here, highly commended.

Driest of the styles, Sercial is a cerebral Madeira. Seville orange, fig, dates and prunes compete for attention on the palate . The finish is long, stimulating and rewarding. Superb example.
