Franco Allegrini VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO 1/2BT 2025

Amarone is the result of Allegrini’s skill in creating a modern wine with a strong connection to tradition. Sourced from Classico area hillside vineyards, grapes are dried for a rich, powerful wine with characteristic dried cherry aromas and a tremendous structure.

A tasty drop of bitter cherries and rounded tannins - sumptuous!This is the perfect accompaniment to Italian antipasti, soups, pasta dishes and to the wide variety of dishes that the Mediterranean area has to offer. Valpolicella also compliments roasted and grilled white meats. It is also an ideal summer red to drink with fish dishes. Serve at 16 C (61 F)and open the bottle a few minutes before drinking.

La Poja covers 2.6 hectares at the top of La Grola. It is a rare plot of limestone, rich in iron and magnesium. Giovanni Allegrini decided immediately that this was going to be his top cru, made from 100% Corvina.

Recioto Giovanni Allegrini is deep ruby red in color and has a spicy bouquet with hints of dried fruit. It is full and velvety on the palate.

A blend of 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from low-yielding vineyards in Verona. Half of the Corvina grapes are left on the vine for longer, to concentrate the sugar and flavour. About 30% of the blend is aged for 12 months in American and French barriques. The nose shows complex aromas, reminiscent of prune, cherry and redcurrant; the palate is supple with a long finish.

The wine has a lovely and intense dark garnet colour. It exudes aromas and flavours of black cherries, chocolate, coffee, and raisins, along with a note of almonds. Despite a formidable structure, the palate is velvety, spicy and elegant, with an extremely long and lingering finish.

A classic, youthful Valpolicella with approachable ripe cherry fruit and a rounded, gently spicy character from six months ageing in large oak casks.

The Capitel della Crosara vineyard lies in the heart of the Valpolicella region and gives its name to Montresor's top Amarone and Ripassso. This is an excellent example with bright, fresh cherry fruit.
