The small A-rated Madalena vineyard has long provided the principal component wines in "declared" Smith Woodhouse Vintage Ports. Owing to the exceptional quality of this vineyard's production in the 1988 Vintage, Smith Woodhouse & Co decided for the first time to release a bottling of wine drawn solely from this exceptional Quinta.
